Gov. Rob Blagojevich is a hell of guy. Not only is he the current Governor of Illinois but he’s well on his way to being inmate #02239184 at the federal pen. You see Blagojevich got himself into a world of trouble by attempting to sell the appointment to the Senate seat being vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. In addition to those allegations, he also allegedly tried to leverage his power as Governor to get the Chicago Tribune to stop writing editorials about his impeachment. Hey, since when did this become a communist country Stalin?
According to reports, Blagojevich offered the use of funds from the Illinois Finance Authority (IFA), which could have been used to help finance a sale or improvements to Wrigley Field (owned by the Tribune Company), in exchange for the firing of one his most vocal opponents John McCormick. He also requested that the paper write more favorable articles and editorials about him.
Alas, the tapes did him in, with Robby being captured in an early morning raid on Tuesday. Enjoy prison buddy, because you earned it!
Oh and watch out, because the popo are on your tail!
