The waiting game

Yeah, it’s been a week since I’ve last posted. My trip to Florida was fun, but my trip home was not as great. I was supposed to leave Daytona at 6:15 Monday night, but instead I didn’t leave until 9:30 Tuesday morning. Ugh! When I finally got back to work, I was completely swamped. But it doesn’t mean I love you any less.

Braves Update:
Braves pitcher Mike Hampton will have to wait until mid-May to complete his comeback after straining his left oblique during batting practice on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Braves have signed pitcher Mark Redman to a one year $750,000 minor league contract on Friday. He can earn up to an additional $500,000 in performance bonuses. Why can’t we just start Lance Cormier? He’s totally deserves it. (foxsports.com)

NASCAR Update:
Las Vegas Preview
Nextel Cup Series
Jimmie Johnson comes into Las Vegas knowing he’s won the last two races there. But the track where Johnson has had recent success bears little resemble to the one he will be racing on on Sunday. Since last March, Las Vegas has gone through a multimillion dollar make-over. The track has gone from just 12 degrees of banking to 20 degrees in the corner making it one of the fastest tracks on the circuit. But these changes have left some drivers like Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick upset. "I had a lot of fun there. It's too bad they re-paved it and screwed it up for the next four or five years," the ever outspoken Harvick told reporters. (nascar.com) Other drivers like Carl Edwards and his Roush Fenway teammate Matt Kenseth are looking forward to racing at the repaved track. One things for sure, it will be a fast paced, action filled race.

UAW-DiamlerChrysler 400: Sunday @ 4 PM/est on Fox

Busch Series
After last weekends exciting and controversial finish between teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Pruett in Mexico City, this weekend’s race at Las Vegas has a lot of hype to live up to. With the faster speeds and the mix of veterans and newbies, the race should feature a few more run-ins and a bunch of upset people.

Sam’s Town 300: Saturday @ 2:30 PM/est on ABC

Truck Series
One more off weekend until the trucks are back racing at Atlanta.

Since 2003, the RIAA has sued 18,000 illegal downloaders including 1,062 students at 130 universities. That’s right, just piss off the people you’re trying to get to buy your records. (AP)

A German man sawed his home in half and brought it over to his brother’s house using a fork lift. The man is going through a divorce. But you’re wife would still be able to sell the land which her half house is sitting on! (Reuters)

Mitch Walter got quite a scare while inspecting the Cape Rock Water Treatment Plant property on Tuesday. Walter was cruising in his kick ass golf cart when a rabbit jumped in followed by a bobcat. The rabbit immediately jumped out but the bobcat was not quite as nimble. Walter only sustained a few scratches after pushing the bobcat out of the cart. I think Mitch needs to find the pope mobile and start using it. It has sides and bullet proof glass. (AP)
