Like it wasn’t obvious enough
The Indians aren’t having a great season this year. Along with stammering to a 45-62 record - 11 and a half games out of first in the AL Central - they are also bleeding money. According to their owner Paul Dolan, the club stands to lose $16 million this season and attendance is down more than 500,000 than expected before Opening Day.
He added the trades of Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez, though not popular, had to be done to secure the future development of the team. Lee, along with Ben Francisco, was sent to the Phillies while Martinez was sent to the Red Sox.
The Indians stood just one win away from the World Series in 2007, but since then the team has been in a downward spiral. Well, at least they still have Grady Sizemore, for now!
