Dora the Exlporer


Baseball: With the trade deadline passed, a bunch of players have found new homes. Check back later for a complete wrap up...Dan Uggla and Cody Ross hit back-to-back homeruns off of Cubs closer Kevin Gregg to stun the Cubs, 3-2...Newly acquired Freddy Sanchez had two hits in his Giants debut as the Giants went on to top the Phillies, 7-3...The Dodgers pounded the Braves, 9-1...Chad Billingsley had to leave the game early with a cramp in his right hamstring...Melky Cabrera completed the first cycle since 1995 for the Yankees as they avoided a sweep by the White Sox, 8-5...With the win, the Bombers were able to keep a 1/2 lead over the Red Sox despite Boston out slugging the Orioles, 18-10...For the third time in four games, the Orioles benched third baseman Melvin Mora. Needless to say, he was not too happy about it...The Red Sox have fired two staffers after a steriod investigation...Carl Pavano allowed just one run in eight innings as the Indians stomped the Tigers, 11-1...James Shields no-hit the Royals through seven innings, but Kansas City was able to rally to a 4-1 win...The Royals have designated Sidney Ponson for assignment. They plan to bring up Kyle Davies from Triple-A Omaha...D'Backs pitcher Brandon Webb will undergo shoulder surgery...Meanwhile, the Brewers have placed Cory Hart on the DL after undergoing an appendectomy on Sunday...Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler was placed on the DL with a strained left hamstring.

Basketball: The Knicks have the first crack at Jason Williams...The Bucks have released Bruce Bowen after they were unable to trade him...The Timberwolves are close to naming a new head coach. Well we wouldn't want to make this decision too quickly.

Football: After meeting with a grand jury, Antonio Pierce is hopeful he will be cleared of all charges...According to owner Robert Kraft, Michael Vick is not in the Patriots plans...The Vikings have signed Percy Harvin...Minnesota QB Tarvaris Jackson is rehabbing a sprained MCL in his left knee...Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells sprained his right ankle in his first training camp practice...Broncos WR Brandon Marshall hurt his hammy...Want to know how to lose 30 pounds without really trying? Hockey: The Sabres have signed Cody McCormick...Lightning co-owner Len Barrie wired $3 million to Oren Koules to meet a Monday deadline to cover the team's losses...The NHL is looking into long term contracts.


Nascar: The Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 was postponed to Monday due to rain. And if you were around the Pennsylvania/New York area, you'd know all about that...Tony Stewart will be starting from the back after crashing in practice. Judging from the last time this happened to Stewart at Pocono, he'll be just fine...Congrats to Brad Keselowski on winning the Nationwide Sereis race at Iowa this weekend...Congratulations also go out to Ron Hornaday on winning his fifth straight Camping World Truck Series race.

Best of the Rest: The FINA World Swimming Championship has ended. Michael Phelps racked up five golds and one silver while Ryan Lochte took home four golds. Congrats to all the competitors...Congrats to Tiger Woods on winning the Buick Open...Marion Bartoli upset Venus Williams, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to capture the Bank of the West Classic.
