The economy strikes again. It’s latest victim, Rahal Letterman which in the past fielded the 2004 Indy 500 winner driven by Buddy Rice and also gave Danica Patrick her start in the IRL. The IndyCar team has announced it will sit out the 2009 season due to lack of sponsorship. Yikes! You’d think if any car could get a sponsor, it would be one part owned by David Letterman.The team had just one car entry in 2008, driven by American driver Ryan Hunter-Reay who won the July race at Watkins Glen.
It is important to note that the team has not disbanded, but rather continues the search for a sponsor to revive the team. Maybe Oprah can do it.
