The Giants were hoping to fill the hole Osi Umenyiora’s season ending surgery opened up with a familiar face, Michael Strahan. However, after some careful consideration, Mikey has decided not to un-retire and instead kick back in his beach chair in Greece. Strahan had signed with Fox Sports to serve as an analyst for the upcoming season, but the network said they would allow the veteran DE to return to New York if he wanted. In the end, not even the money -- reportedly around $8 million -- was enough to get him on a plane to New York.
Can you blame him? He’s got a sweet deal with Fox and he’s enjoying an awesome vacation in Europe, I wouldn’t put down the sunscreen either.
The Giants have moved Mathias Kiwanuka (relative to Uganda’s first Prime Minister Ben Kiwanuka – who knew?) over to DE to take the place of the injured Umenyiora. Let’s just hope Kiwanuka can stay healthy this season.
