I'm only happy when it rains

Baseball Update:
Nick Swisher's three run homer off of Joel Zumaya in the 14th handed the White Sox a 10-8 victory over the Tigers. Placido Polanco gave the Tigers a two run advantage in the top of the 14th with a shot of his own, but Swisher's heroics in the bottom of the inning took care of that.

ChiSox manager Ozzie Guillen got a two game suspension, while the Royals Miguel Olivo and Zack Greinke got five game suspensions and manager Trey Hillman got a one game suspension for their involvement in Sunday's fracas between the two teams.

The Twins were unable to keep pace with the White Sox, falling to the Mariners, 8-7. In what could have any easy series for the Twins, has now turned into a diaster with Minnesota looking to stop a possible sweep with a win on Wednesday.

Not only did the Yankees fail to rally against the Rangers, losing 8-6, but their star pitcher of the future Joba Chamberlain, has a date with Dr. James Andrews. (queue music)

Jamie Moyer suffered his first loss to the Marlins, as the Phillies got pounded by the Fish, 8-2. Josh Johnson continued to marvel, holding Philadelphia scoreless in six innings.

Fernando Tatis had two homeruns and four RBIs as the Mets escaped the Padres, 6-5. Suffering from the loss of Billy Wagner, who was placed on the DL, the Mets had to piece together a relieving staff for the closing innings. Aaron Heilman made it interesting allowing three runs in the ninth before Scott Schoeneweis came in to earn the save.

There is nothing wrong with a little in-fighting as long as it gets your team going. And on Tuesday, the Brewers proved everything is fine as they routed the Reds, 8-1. Prince Fielder who was involved in the dugout shoving match hit a two run dinger in the win. I bet his teammates forgave him after that.

But with the Cubs 11-7 defeat of the Astros and the Cardinals 6-4 victory over the Dodgers, the NL Central standings remain the same. The Dodgers are execting starter Brad Penny to return to the lineup on Friday.

Because it's never to early to excited about next year, the Cardinals have unveiled the 2009 All-Star logo. Click here for a picture. St. Louis also signed infielder Felipe Lopez on Tuesday.

Chris Waters' major league debut was one for the ages, allowing just one hit in 8 innings pitched as the Orioles shut out the Angels, 3-0. It's not like he was going up against the Mariners, the Angels have a pretty stacked lineup.

Mike Hampton recorded his first win since 2005 as the Braves rocked the Giants, 11-4. Mike Hampton has started in three consecutive games, a few more and he may surpass Tom Glavine and John Smoltz's combined 2008 starts total. I didn't see that coming.

Bradon Webb collected his major league leading 16th win of the season, as the Diamondbacks edged the Pirates, 3-1. Earlier in the day, Arizona announced the contract extension of ace Dan Haren. Haren, who came over to the team via a trade with the A's in the off season, will stay with the D'backs through 2012 with a club option for 2013.

The Rockies have reportedly claimed Twins right-hander Livan Hernandez off waivers.

In that's what you get for wearing Red Sox gear to Yankee Stadium news, Red Sox fan Charles Hillios has filed a suit against the Yankees and two Yankees fans after he claims he was attacked at Yankee Stadium. Not that I ever condone that sort of stuff, but what do you expect? And let's be honest, it's not like things don't get ugly at Fenway if you're wearing Yankees gear.

Nascar Update:
Click here to see who is trying to qualify for Watkins Glen.

P.J. Jones will replace J.J. Yeley in the #96 at Watkins Glen. Apparently you can only have initials as a first name to drive the #96 car.

Scott Riggs is looking for anwswers from Stewart-Haas Racing about his future with the team. I'll give you a hint, Ryan Newman will be driving your car, and you'll be in the umeployment line. Although, I don't think Riggs would be very surprised with that senario playing out.

Could Casey Mears be headed to Petty Enterprises in 2009? Goodness, that's a downgrade for Mears.

The sale of Pikes Peak International Raceway to a group of businessman and motor racing enthusiasts has been completed.

News&Notes: The Favre saga continues. The Packers have decided not to bring Brett back as a starter and instead will stick with Aaron Rodgers leaving Favre to move onto a new team, rumored to be the Bucs...LeBron James could be willing to play basketball in Europe. Who knew money could win over prestige?...Only two days from the opening ceremonies and already the protests have begun in China. Way to ruin people's good times...In other Olympics news, the US Women lost their opener to Norway, 2-0. So hard, my people vs. my people which side to choose; US cyclists are sorry for sporting masks upon their arrival to Beijing. Appparently they didn't realize that whole Michael Jackson look was over; and China put the kibosh on an unveiling of a naked anti-fur ad by US Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard. Apparently, they're not into that sort of thing.
