The NFL has unveiled a new code of conduct for fans attending games this season. Among the “rules” a person or persons can be removed from the stadium and barred from returning if he/she uses “foul or abusive language or obscene gestures” or verbally abuses or physically harasses fans from an opposing team. You also can’t throw things on the field anymore or get drunk and act all unruly. What has the world come to when a person, such as myself, cannot enjoy 6 to 10 beers in the company of his/her fellow fans in a way that may seem a tad unruly and then start hurling his or her empty beer bottles at opposing players while possibly throwing language that would make a sailor blush at some moron wearing an Eagles jersey at Giants Stadium. Lame! First you try to make the players act like saints and now the fans have to follow suit? Not for the $100+ I’m paying for a single ticket, which does not include parking, the cost of 6 to 10 beers, food, but not too much, got to watch my weight and a new jersey to replace my Jeremy Shockey one! (And if people get to babble on about Brett Favre then I get to babble on about the loss of Shockey.) Hopefully the NFL is as successful at honing in unruly fans as it is at keeping its players from getting arrested.
