Just a little Gossip

Baseball: The Pirates are so desperate, they have resorted to signing two Indian reality show contestants, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel. Well if the draft ain't working for you, why not go for a Simon Fuller creation. It worked for Fox...The Giants are looking to bring in either Rafael Furcal or Edgar Renteria, two former Braves shortstops may I add...Nationals pitcher Tim Redding will have minor surgery on his left foot.

Basketball: With Manu Ginobili back, the Spurs were able to tackle the Grizzles, 94-81...Larry Hughes drained a 22 footer at the buzzer to give the Bulls a 101-100 victory over the Jazz...On the upside, Jazz Bear was named Mascot of the Year...The Knicks and Clippers continue to be a stall pattern with this whole trade scenario. According to a report, Cuttino Mobley's heart isn't up to snuff. (Also if you're a fan of Bravo's Million Dollar Listings, you know Mobley's heart isn't the only thing in need of major repair).

College Basketball: UNC continues their reign at number one with UCONN sitting in second...Speaking of the Huskies, they drilled Wisconsin, 76-57...Notre Dame demolished Indiana, 88-50.

Football: The Saints enjoyed a 51-29 stampeed over the Packers in their first home game in over a month...Donovan McNabb will be the Eagles starter on Thursday...Adam Jones was back practicing with the Cowboys...Michael Vick is heading to a Virginia court to continue his dog fighting saga. Vick is hoping for an early release with his guilty plea.

Hockey: The Rangers welcomed Scott Gomez back with a 4-1 win over the Coyotes that included a three assistant performance by Nikolai Zherdev and Brandon Dubinsky's first goal in 14 games...The Canucks were minus Roberto Loungo, but it turned out all they needed was the return of Sami Salo, who scored the game winning OT goal lifting Vancouver over the Red Wings, 3-2...Ryan O'Byrne tied the game for the Islanders, only one problem, he plays for the Canadiens. O'Byrne knocked the goal into his own net sending the game to OT, where the Isles Bill Guerin scored the game winner in the shoot giving New York the 4-3 win...Philly continues to fly high with their fifth straight win, taking down the Stars, 4-3...Claude Lemieux is giving it another go, signing a tryout contract with the San Jose Sharks.

Best of the Rest:The crappy economy has claimed another victim, Tiger Woods. Although somehow I think he'll be ok.
