Braves Update:
The Braves must have been a little jet-lagged on Monday. After their offensive coming out party last week, the Bravos were only able to score two runs against the wild card leading Los Angeles Dodgers in their 8-2 loss. Edgar Renteria demonstrated why he should have chosen for the 2007 all-star squad producing the Braves' lone RBIs in the third and ninth inning. The Braves look to regroup on Tuesday in their game against the Dodgers. Coverage starts at 10:10 PM/est on TBS.
Games behind NY Mets in NL East: 4
Games above .500: 3
NL Wild Card Leader: Los Angeles Dodgers
Braves Notes: Kyle Davies says he's ready to make his scheduled start on Tuesday after suffering a mild left oblique strain on June 23rd...The Braves have introduced all you can eat seats at Turner Field. Great seats and great food, where do I sign up?
NASCAR Notes:
Congratulations to Denny Hamlin on winning at New Hampshire on Sunday, barely edging out Jeff Gordon on the final lap. A surging DEI had both Martin Truex, Jr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the top four. (Third and fourth respectively)
Race Results Cup Standings
Both the #5 Chevy driven by Kyle Busch and the #70 Chevy driven by Johnny Sauter were impounded after failing post-race inspection. Look for penalties to be handed out later this week.
Popo in my Crib News:
In oops news, turns out former Chicago Bear Tank Johnson wasn't legally drunk when he was pulled over on June 22nd. After receiving the results from the lab, Tank had a blood alcohol level of .072, below Arizona's legal limit of .08. I still doubt the Bears will take him back, becuase I'm figuring this was more of a luck thing than a change in character. Watch out Tank, because the popo are on your tail!
President Bush has commuted the sentence of White House aide I. "Scooter" Libby on Monday. Libby was convicted of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators in connection with the leak of the name of a CIA operative, Valerie Plame. Bush called the sentence too harsh, because it's not like his actions killed somebody, just her career. Watch out Scooter, because the popo are on your tail!
News & Notes: Roger Clemens picked up his 350th career win on Monday dominating the Minnesota Twins in the Yankees 5-1 win...The Minnesota Twins are asking their fans to picth in for Pat and vote Neshek in to the 2007 all-star game. Voting closes at 6PM/est on Thursday, so vote for your favorite as many times as you'd like...The homerun derby lineup is coming together. So far 2006 winner, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder and Justin Morneau have been added to the list...The Utah Jazz have granted guard Derek Fisher his release on Monday so he can concentrate on taking care of his 11 month-old daughter who has cancer in her left eye. Fisher would like to play in one of "six or seven cities being considered for Tatum's care." Best wishes to the entire Fisher family...Finally, congratulations to Little Big Town's Phillip Sweet and his wife Rebecca. The pair are expecting their first child together. Bandmate, Kimberly Rhoads is also expecting a bundle of joy due sometime this summer.
I'll be out enjoying the fourth of July for the next two day's and probably won't post until Friday. Until then have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
