Don't call it a heat wave

Braves Update:
The Braves maybe one of the few teams that might not want the all-star break. After a shakey couple of weeks, the Braves have gone 9-4 since losing 1-0 to Detroit on June 24th. They capped off their hot streak with a 5-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Brian McCann, proved why he made the all-star team going 2-4 with a homerun in the second and four RBIs. Kelly Johnson homered two batters after McCann and Andruw Jones just might be coming out of his extended slum, going 3-3. The Braves have a couple days off before resuming play on Friday in Pittsburgh. Until then, you can tune into the homerun derby on Monday at 8 PM/est on ESPN and the All-Star game on Tuesday at 8 PM/est on Fox.

NASCAR Update:
It only took four and a half years and 166 races, but Jamie McMurray finally picked up his second career win on Saturday in the Pepsi 400. McMurray overcame a black flag for passing below the yellow line to come back to beat Kyle Busch in a photo finish. Earlier in the race, Joe Gibbs saw his two team cars, the #20 driven by Tony Stewart and #11 Denny Hamlin, who was leading at the time, take each other out, opening the door for the Hendrick cars. But Jamie McMurray and teammate, Carl Edwards, would not let the Chevy dominance continue at the restrictor plate tracks. McMurray is the first Ford to win at a plate track since Dale Jarrett in October 2005 at Talledega.

Random Quote: "I'll appreciate this more than my win in Charlotte. Last time I just went home and went to bed. I will go home, have a few Crown Royal drinks and I will savor this and just kind of think about it." - Jamie McMurray on his win (source)

News & Notes: Congratulations to Roger Federer and Venus Williams on winning their respective Wimbeldon championships over the weekend. This is Roger's fifth straight Wimbeldon title and Venus' fourth...Pitcher Mark Buehrle is officially off the trade market, for now, after signing a four year, $56 million extension with the Chicago White Sox, which was announced at the end of the Sox 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday...The Philadelphia Phillies did whatever it would took to postpone team loss 10,000 on Sunday. The Phillies ran out of the vistor's dugout to help the Colorado Rockies ground crew wrestle an out of control trap during a 50 minute rain delay. When the delay was over, right fielder Shane Victorino connected on a two run homerun to break open things, in the Phillies 8-4 win over the rockies. Click here to watch.
