TGIF, seriously, it seems like this has been an incredibly long week. Of course it hasn’t, the length of a week doesn’t change, but I’m super tired and just ready for the weekend!
New in the Theaters:
Everyone’s Hero
The Black Dahlia (not getting great reviews, actually I read that Brian DePalma basically ruined a great book, but I’m in the middle of the book so I can’t comment, but so far so good.)
The Last Kiss (receiving mixed reviews, but it’s Zach Braff, Rachel Bilson and Jacinda Barrett, so I’m probably going to have to go see it!)
Gridiron Gang (starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Someone’s trying to be taken serious as an actor! The truth is Dwayne, starring in movies that don’t suck is the only way to be taken seriously as an actor.)
Confetti (the only “fresh” movie ranked on rottentomatoes.com this week)
Braves Update:
Martin Prado hit his first homerun yesterday allowing the Braves to top the Phillies 4-1. Chuck James threw another gem of a game increasing his record to 10-3, take that Cole Hammels! The Braves take on the Marlins tonight at 7:35 on TS.
Games to .500: 6
Games behind San Diego Padres: 6.5
Games behind New York Mets: 20.5
NASCAR Update:
This weekend the Chase finally begins as the Cup Series races in New Hampshire.
Qualifying for the Sylvania 300: 3PM on Speed
Sylvania 300: 12:30PM on TNT
Jeremy Mayfield will race in the Smith’s Las Vegas 350 in the Craftsman Truck Series next Saturday. This is the first race held at the newly banked 1.5 mile speedway. This allows Mayfield to get a leg up on the Cup competition next year, because driving from Bill Davis Racing, well he’ll need any help he can get!
Random Quote:
"There's a cooler of beer being delivered to pit at the end of the race. I don't want you guys getting into that until we're done. I wanna have a cold Bud with y'all no matter what happens. We've had a great season so far. And make sure we gotta back-up cooler I'm sure the first one will go fast." -Dale Jr. to his crew during the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 via foxsports.com
(Sorry it's from last week, but I never got a chance to post it and I thought it was funny!)
Giants Update:
The Giants take on divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in Philadelphia. Oh, and this is only the second game of a grueling 6 game schedule for the Giants. If Big Blue has any hope of making the playoffs they are going to have to win and win often!
Want to know what Jeremy Shockey's thinking? Head over to nypost.com and go to the sports section. Shockey will write a new article every Friday. This weeks was very entertaining, and informative of course!
Popo in the crib news:
Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the reality show, “Dog the Bounty Hunter” was arrested on charges stemming from a 2003 illegal capture in Mexico. Dog watch out, because the popo is on your tail!
Around the World:
In for your health news, E coli have been found in bagged spinach. You cannot wash the deadly bacteria off the spinach nor can you kill it by heat. Well you can, but you wouldn’t want to eat the spinach afterwards, or was it that you might burn your house down? I wasn’t completely paying attention to GMA this morning. It was early, so sue me. Well actually retract that last statement; you would just perpetuate all of those stupid law suits like suing McDonald’s because you spilt hot coffee on yourself. I call that survival of the fittest people, and sometimes the dumb ones just don’t make it through!
Celebrity Tid Bits:
The feud between Elton John and George Michael is over. Thank goodness! It was so hard choosing sides on that one. I had to wear my team Elton shirt on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while I wore my team George shirt on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and then wore my Eli Manning shirt on Sunday. Although, I think I might keep that Manning shirt tradition going.
People Magazine released its annual best and worst dressed list. Among the best dressed are Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson. As a cop out, People no longer prints a list of worst dressed, just a pictures of stars in not so hot outfits. Hey People, that’s what gofugyourself.com is for. At least they dish out pictures of celebs and almost celebs in terrible outfits with a side of wit!
Alicia Silverstone has signed on to co-star in “The Singles Table,” about five people who meet at the singles table at a wedding. Silverstone will play Georgia. “The Singles Table” is scheduled to air as a midseason replacement for NBC.
Keith Urban’s new album scheduled for release on November 7th has a title! It will be called Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing. Didn’t you just get married, where’s the pain coming from? The CD features his hot new single, “Once in a Lifetime.”
Vince Gill’s new four disc box set will be released on October 17th. All four discs feature new music from Gill and are separated by genre including traditional country and bluegrass.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Prince Harry who turns 22. I always had a crush on you even though you’re a year younger!
If you've got time check out some previous posts, I added my US Open pictures and pictures from when the tree fell down.
It’s been fun blogging with you,
Kate
