Baseball: The Yankees 12-3 pounding of the Rangers was very eventful. They ended their 18 game errorless streak and Derek Jeter scored his 1,500th career run...Texas has placed Josh Hamilton on the DL with an abdominal strain. He could be out for up to two months...Roy Halladay fanned 14 batters on his way to his league leading ninth win of the season...Dice-K picked up his first win of the season as the Red Sox rolled past the Tigers, 5-1. Terry Francona also notched his 500th career win as a manager...Ichiro extended his hitting streak to 26 games as the Mariners topped the Orioles, 8-2...Joe Mauer stayed red hot and Kevin Slowey picked up his eighth win of the season as the Twins edged the Indians, 4-3...In his major league debut, New Jersey's own Vin Mazzaro and the Oakland A's shut down the White Sox, 5-0...The Braves rallied to stun the Cubs in the 12th, 6-5...Atlanta sent down Jordan Schafer to the minors and called up Gregor Blanco...Raul Ibanez knocked two out of the yard as the Phillies doubled up the Padres, 10-5...Not only did the Mets lose to the Pirates with Johan Santana on the mound, but they may have to worry about the swine flu. Well they play in Queens after all. Epicenter of the New York City swine flu outbreak...Reds pitcher Edison Volquez is heading back to the DL.

Basketball: Jameer Nelson will play in the NBA Finals for the Magic...President Obama has picked the Lakers. Judging from his NCAA bracket, LA may have a shot. He did pick UNC...Get well wishes go out to LeBron James who had a benign growth in his mouth removed...And for the fact that he'll have to be in a confined space with NBA commissioner David Stern to talk about his hand shake snub. Marty Brodeur didn't have to chat with Gary Bettman after he snubbed Sean Avery last season.

Football: Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall will not be suspended in connection with his March 1 arrest. But luckily there is another charge looming so I wouldn't get too cheery if I were you Brando...The Cowboys have released linebacker Greg Ellis...Titans QB Vince Young wants his job back or else he'll have to go somewhere he's wanted. So you think Tennessee is just going to let you walk? You can't pull the crazy trick to get out of your contract, maybe you could pull a Pacman Jones to get them to release you...Ochocinco is hoping 2009 will be a hell of a lot of better than 2008...Want Saints season tickets this year? Well you're kind of out of luck.


Hockey: The Penguins got themselves back into the series with their 4-2 win over the Red Wings...Speaking of the Stanley Cup Finals, their ratings are at their highest start since 2002...The GMs have decided not to ban hits to the head. Well really legal hits that result in a hit to the head. As if that makes it any better...Sports Properties Acquisition Corp has agreed to buy the Florida Panthers for $240 million.

Nascar: Carl Long's appeal of his 12 race ban was upheld by the National Stock Car Racing Commission...Jeremy Mayfield's ban is moving up to federal court. Maybe it could hit the supreme court like Larry Flint or Anna Nicole Smith.

Best of the Rest: Memphis did not think Derrick Rose cheated on his SATs. Nor did they really care to investigate it I am sure...Congrats to Washington on winning its first NCAA Softball Title...Maria Sharapova earned herself an exit from the French Open. Meanwhile Dinara Safina is still in it to win it...So Danica Patrick should probably not quit her job as a race car driver and start to travel around the country doing stand up.
