Election Day

Sorry for the late post this morning, I had to take the late train to work after voting early. While I don’t care who you vote for, I will make a plea to any eligible Americans to go out and vote today! Don’t be discouraged by long lines because your voice matters! And as an added bonus, many stores are giving away freebies just for voting. Like a cup of coffee at Starbucks or a scoop of ice at Ben & Jerry's. Click here for the complete list.

Baseball: The Brewers have made a play to keep CC Sabathia (don't hold your breath) and have retained the services of Mike Cameron...The Phillies have signed Ruben Amaro, Jr. as their GM. Pat Gillick will work as a consultant for the team...The Red Sox are reportedly giving GM Theo Epstein a new deal...Mike Maddux is moving over to the Rangers to work as their pitching coach, while brother Greg Maddux may retire...The Yankees have a spot for Mike Mussina if he wants it...19 more players including Francisco Rodriguez and Rafael Furcal have filed for free agency...Finally, click here to see photos from the Phillies Championship parade.

Basketball: The Pistons have acquired Allen Iverson from the Nuggets for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess. Although the Nuggets are expected to waive McDyess...The Pistons also agreed to a three year extension with Richard Hamilton...And to top it all off, Detroit remains perfect taking down the Bobcats, 101-83.

College Basketball: Tyler Hansbrough leads the Preseason All-American list...Ken Mink, a 73 student at Roane State Community College scored two points in their 93-42 victory over King College's junior varsity.

College Football: Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer's time in Knoxville has come to a close.


Football: Byron Leftwich stepped in for an injured Ben Roethlisberger, leading the Steelers to a 23-6 defeat of the Redskins...The Redskins suffered their loss while wearing an entirely maroon uniform. The first time and probably last time they'll be sporting that look...Looks like the Brady Quinn era will begin on Thursday...Dante Culpepper plans to sign a two year deal with the Lions...Texans QB Matt Schaub has a torn MCL and will likely miss at least a month...

Hockey: Chris Campoli scored his first two goals in nearly a year and added the game winner in OT to give himself a hat trick and the Islanders the 4-3 (OT) win over the Blue Jackets...Speaking of the Isles, goalie Rick DiPietro underwent a second knee surgery and will be out for 4-to-6 weeks...Kevin Weeks took over for an injured Martin Broduer but did not get any help from his team as the Sabres blanked the Devils, 2-0...Patrick Sharp and Andrew Ladd combined for six points as the Blackhawks devoured the Avalanche, 6-2...After missing a week to spend time with his ailing grandfather in Russia, Alex Ovechkin returned to Washington.

Nascar: Congratulations to Carl Edwards on his win in Texas on Sunday. (click here for results)...With Johnson's 15th place finish, the points have tightened up a bit. (click here for updated standings)...A woman was struck by a stray bullet while watching Sunday's race at Texas in the infield.

Best of the Rest: Sadly, a second runner has died following the New York City marathon. Carlos Jose Gomes, 58 passed away after completing the grueling race...Lewis Hamilton became the youngest driver to ever win the Formula 1 Championship. His father Anthony said that his son had to do it while facing racial abuse along the way.
