Baseball: According to reports the Braves have signed Billy Wagner to a $7 million deal. What?!?!? Frank Wren, you and I don't always see eye to eye (ok very rarely) but I really don't understand this move. That's a lot of money for a very big question mark...In other odd signing news, the Phillies have given catcher Brian Schneider a two year deal...Johnny Damon and Miguel Tejada were among the players not offered arbitration...The Rays have acquired catcher Kelly Shoppach from the Indians for a player to be named later. Seriously, who haven't the Tribe traded in the past 16 months?...Are the Red Sox moving Dustin Pedroia over to shortstop?...Former superagent Dennis Gilbert is the frontrunner to buy the Rangers...The Jets asked Yankees Manager Joe Girardi to help Mark Sanchez learn how to slide. And maybe afterwards they can share a hot dog together...Speaking of the Yanks, sad news, Tommy Henrich has passed away at the age of 96...Vin Scully will be back as the voice of the Dodgers for 2010.

Basketball: That was a short retirement, Allen Iverson has signed with the 76ers...Danilo Gallinari had 27 points as the Knicks ravaged the Suns, 126-99...The Lakers stung the Hornets, 110-99 for their seventh straight win...LeBron James documentary "More Than a Game" has been nominated for an independent spirit award...According to a new article in the Sporting News, Ron Artest admitted to drinking during games earlier in his career. It explains oh so much.


College Basketball: In a rematch of last year's title game, UNC once again topped Michigan State, 89-82...Purdue downed Wake Forest, 69-58...Yesterday it was mentioned that Villanova's Mouphtaou Yarou would miss the rest of the season for a health reason. That reason was revealed as hepatitis B...UCLA forward Drew Gordon is transferring out.

College Football: Bobby Bowden will retire after Florida State's Bowl Game. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will take over for Bowden next season...Carlos Dunlap will not play in Florida's game against Alabama after being arrested for DUI...Eight Michigan State football players have been suspended for their involvement in a fight at a campus residence hall. Two players, Glenn Winston and Roderick Jenrette have already been dismissed. Watch out Spartans, because the popo are on your tail!

Football: Ben Roethlisberger will play for Pittsburgh on Sunday...Oh and Hines Ward says he's sorry Ben...Eagles WR DeSean Jackson says it's very unlikely he'll be able to play on Sunday after sustaining a concussion...Philadelphia has given tight end Brent Celek a six year, $33 million extension...The Falcons have released kicker Jason Elam.

Hockey: Brent Seabrook's goal in the 11th round of the shootout gave the Blackhawks the 4-3 advantage and coach Joel Quenneville his 500th career victory...The Kings nipped the Ducks, 4-3...The Leafs blanked the Canadiens, 3-0 as Toronto's goalie Jonas Gustavsson was taken to the hospital with an elevated heart beat during the game...There was some good news for Montreal, the NHL has approved a sale to the Molson Family...Alexander Ovechkin has been suspended two games for his knee-to-knee hit on defenseman Tim Gleason on Monday. The hit already kept Ovie out Tuesday's game...Meanwhile Keith Ballard will not be punished after he accidently hit his own goalie with his stick...Hurricanes defenseman Joe Corvo will miss at least eight weeks after he underwent surgery to repair a cut on his right leg. When it rains it pours in Carolina...The Bruins have given Mark Savard a seven year contract extension worth $28.05 million.

Best of the Rest: Danny Green knocked out Roy Jones Jr in the first round of their IBO world cruiserweight title fight...Since the popo have wrapped up their investigation into Tiger Woods, the incident will no longer be covered on this blog.
