Not to get ahead of ourselves here, but after two straight postseason series where the Angels were swept by the Red Sox, the Halos finally were able to top Boston, 5-0. John Lackey pitched over seven innings of shut out ball, while Torii Hunter added a three run homer to give Los Angeles an early 1-0 series lead.

Phillies v. Rockies
Game 2 Recap:
Rockies 5, Phillies 4
After a postseason where it appeared Cole Hamels could do nothing wrong, Hamels seemed almost human allowing four runs in five innings of the Phillies 5-4 loss. But Philadelphia wasn’t ready to give up just yet; Ryan Howard doubled in Shane Victorino and later scored on Raul Ibanez’s single in the sixth to cut Colorado’s lead to one run. But with two on and two out in the ninth, Victorino lined out to second to end the game and send the series back to Colorado tied at one game a piece.

Dodgers v. Cardinals
Game 2 Recap:
Dodgers, 3 Cardinals 2
The Cardinals were on the verge of tying the series at one game a piece until a costly error by Matt Holliday allowed the Dodgers to keep the inning going, eventually leading to a two out rally that gave them the 3-2 victory. After receiving their second chance - courtesy of Holliday’s gaffe - the Dodgers were able to tie the game when Ronnie Belliard singled to center, scoring Juan Pierre. Two batters later, LA had the bases loaded for Mark Loretta who singled to center scoring Casey Blake, giving the Dodgers a commanding two games to nothing lead in the best of five series.

News&Notes: Cole Hamels left Citizen’s Bank Park soon after being taken out of the game. The reason was a very good one, his wife was in labor! Talk about a very busy day…J.A. Happ was knocked out Game 2 quickly after getting a line drive to the knee…A.J. Burnett would like Jorge Posada to know that he did not choose his catcher. Although after watching Posada’s performance in Game 1 he’s not opposed to Manager Joe Girardi’s decision, I am sure…If it was up to the Weaver family; it would be an all LA World Series.
