And so it began: 2009 MLB Playoffs

ALCS
Yankees v. Twins
Game 1 Recap:
Yankees 7, Twins 2
The Twins jumped on Yankees starter CC Sabathia early scoring two runs in the top of the third inning, including one run off a passed ball. The Yankees tied things up in the bottom half of that inning with a Derek Jeter two-run homer and never looked back tacking on a five additional runs in their 7-2 victory. As the game progressed it appeared the after-effects of Tuesday’s 12 inning thriller began to wear on the Twins team, which should be happy to have Thursday off before going up against the Yanks again on Friday.
WP: CC Sabathia (1-0) LP: Brian Duensing (0-1)
Yankees Lead Series 1-0

NLCS
Phillies v. Rockies
Game 1 Recap:

Phillies 5, Rockies 1
If the past holds true, the Phillies are looking good after taking game 1, 5-1 over the Rockies. Cliff Lee went the distance holding the Rockies off the scoreboard until the ninth inning when Troy Tulowitzki doubled to right scoring Carlos Gonzalez. Until that point, it was all Phillies as Raul Ibanez, Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino all notched doubles and Jayson Werth had an RBI triple to help slow down the surging Rockies.
WP: Cliff Lee (1-0) LP: Ubaldo Jimenez (0-1)
Phillies Lead Series 1-0
