Around Sports:
Baseball
Skankees Manager, Joe Torre looks to be keeping his job next year. Rumors spread after the Skanks lost in the ALDS to the Detroit Tigers in four games. The Bronx Bombers boast a $200 million payroll and have been unable to win a World Series since 2000. Torre has been the manager of the Yankees for 11 seasons winning four World Series titles in five seasons.

In other Skankees news…The Big Unit, Randy Johnson, will undergo surgery to repair a herniated disc and Jason Giambi will have surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right wrist according to GM, Brian Cashman.

If you're heading to a Chicago White Sox game next year, note a time change. All weekday games will begin at 7:11 PM. Seriously! The time change is to promote the partnership between the White Sox and Seven Eleven.

Separated at Birth:

Popo in my Crib News:
Former NFL running back, Lawrence Phillips was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon Tuesday. Phillips faces up to 20 years in prison after he rammed his car into a group of people. Watch out Lawrence, because the popo are on your tail!

In oops news…Scott Blauvett was arrested after security cameras caught him in nothing but his birthday suit at a government building. The 35 year old Blauvett is charged with two counts of indecent exposure. If convicted, he faces up to a month in jail and $250 fine. Watch out Scott, because the popo are on your tail!

Around the World:
Tower Records will close all of its 89 stores. Tower’s assets were sold to Great American Group for $134.4 million at auction.

In haven't you hurt him enough news...Jennifer Wilbanks, aka 2005's runaway bride, has sued her former fiance, John Mason for $500,000 after Mason alledgedly sold their story to ReganMedia for $500,000 and never split the payday with her. Serously, You leave this poor guy at the alter, runaway to New Mexico and make up some crazy story, then when you get back he takes you back until he realized you really are crazy and dumped your ass and now you're pissed off. I get it. Do you continually have to punish him? Don't you think that the time he spent dating you is enough of a punishment? I do!

Celebrity Tid Bits:
Usually it’s the girls that have on set problems (think Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Catrell on Sex and the City) but today comes word that it’s the boys getting catty. Patrick Dempsy and Isiah Washington of Grey’s Anatomy fame got into a heated argument over a “difference of opinion,” according to people.com. The two star on the top rated show on ABC. Maybe Patrick Dempsy was tired of being called Dr. McDreamy?

Congratulations go out to Josh Turner and his wife, Jennifer Ford Turner who welcomed their first child, Hampton Otis Turner on Friday, October 6, 2006.

Congratulations also go out to Rascal Flatts who will perform to their one millionth ticket holder for their Me and My Gang Tour on Saturday, October 14th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Luke Perry (41), Sean Patrick Flannery (41) and John Cusack (44).

Random Quote: "[Barbara] Streisand relinquished the stage twice to Il Divo, a Simon Cowell
creation known for their crossover style. Though they apparently pleased
the crowd, they were grating at times. They would have served better as
an opening act instead of having Streisand leave the stage in their
hands - it was like going to a Madonna concert and having her surrender
the stage to Brooke Hogan." via yahoo.com

(thanks howard!)

It’s been fun blogging with you,

Kate
