Thanks Jeter!

Baseball: After an 0-for-12 streak, Derek Jeter went 3-for-4 tying him with Lou Gehrig for most hits by a Yankee. Jorge Posada added the go ahead homerun in New York's 4-2 win over the Rays. Luckily I was able to see Jeter hit 2721 from my seat in the bleachers if you couldn't tell from my excellent photography below...The Rangers hammered the Indians, 10-0...But Texas was unable to make up any ground as the Red Sox sliced the Orioles, 7-5...Albert Pujols had two homeruns and Adam Wainwright picked up his league leading 18th victory of the season as the Cards downed the Brewers, 5-1...Tim Lincecum's feeling better, but the Giants weren't doing any better as they were again beat by the Padres, 4-2...The Rockies won their sixth straight in dramatic fashion, 4-3 over the Reds, gaining ground on the Dodgers after they fell to the D'backs, 4-3...LA pitcher Randy Wolf will miss his next start after injuring his elbow while swinging the bat...Ryan Madson closed things out for the Phillies as they edged the Nats, 6-5...The Tigers sure are making things interesting losing to the Royals, 5-1...Now that Carlos Beltran and John Maine are coming back, I guess Jose Reyes doesn't fell like being left out.

Basketball: Allen Iverson is tweeting that he's going to Memphis. Didn't this already happen once before this summer?

Football: Eric Mangini, you need to teach your players how to keep secrets better...If all it took for me to get a raise was to be a complete ass and disrespect not just my boss, but my boss's boss, then why am I not doing that? Ah Brandon Marshall, I have so much to learn...Dwight Dixon, a 33-year-old man who had accused former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison of shooting him, has died from wounds sustained in a separate shooting in July...What recession? Tickets for NFL games this season are expected to climb 4%.

Hockey: Jiri Hudler's move to the KHL has been approved...Ice Edge has formally withdrawn its bid for the Coyotes.

Nascar: Is it wrong to dominate at your own dirt-track or is that why you purchase a dirt-track of your own, so that you can dominate your competition? I guess I'll have to ask Tony Stewart...Congrats to Elliott Sadler and wife Amanda on the news that the couple is expecting their first child in March.

Best of the Rest: The slipper apparently didn't fit 17-year-old Melanie Oudin as she was ousted from the US Open on Wednesday. Well, at least now she doesn't have to worry about a hotel room...The night was decidedly better for Roger Federer who advanced in four sets...The US is one win away from heading to the World Cup...The Hartford Courant has tapped Alysa Auriemma to be its newest blogger covering what else but the UCONN lady's basketball team who just happened to be coached by her father Geno Auriemma. I wonder if she can get some good inside dirt?

Check this Out: Since this apparently the all Derek post, it seems only fitting to hear from Derek himself what it feels like to be tied with Lou Gehrig. Click here for the interview.
