Don't Cry for me Argentina



Baseball: Tim Lincecum returned to the mound after missing a start with a strong 11 strike out performance in the Giants 9-1 sassing of the Rockies...And there's more good news for San Francisco, Randy Johnson could be throwing in relief soon...The news was decidedly not good for the Twins who will be without Justin Morneau for the rest of the season with back injury...Minnesota did rally with six runs in the eighth to stun the Indians, 6-3...John Smoltz was skipped in the Cardinals rotation on Monday, but that didn't stop St. Louis from topping the Marlins, 11-6...Yanks first baseman Mark Teixeira hit a two-run triple and then doubled in the go-ahead run against his former team the Angels in New York's 5-3 victory...Vlad Guerrero hit the 216th homerun in 73 games at the new Yankee Stadium surpassing the number of homeruns hit at the old Yankee Stadium in one season...The Tigers clipped the Blue Jays, 6-5 in 10...Detroit pitcher Fernando Rodney had his suspension reduced from three games to two...The Tigers will honor Ernie Harwell at Comerica Park on Wednesday. The 91-year-old recently announced he has inoperable cancer...The Rays broke an 11 game losing streak doubling up the Orioles, 8-4. Baltimore, the cure for everything!...Has the playoff hopes of the Rangers been killed? Well they sure aren't looking good after being blasted by the A's, 9-0.

Basketball: Blake Griffin has been cleared to start working out with the Clippers...The Mavs have signed forward James Singleton...Heat president Pat Riley, coach Erik Spoelstra and several members of the front office have taken pay cuts.

College Football: Ole Miss defensive end Greg Hardy is very doubtful for Saturday's game with a left ankle sprain...Same goes for Oklahoma starting tailback Kendall Hunter who is suffering with an injured right leg...Vanderbilt saftey Ryan Hamilton is out for the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Football: Philip Rivers lead the Chargers down the field not once but twice in the fourth quarter to beat the Raiders, 24-20...Speaking of late game comebacks, Tom Brady and the Pats ended the Bills upset try with two touchdowns in the final 2:06 to beat Buffalo, 25-24...Update your fantasy teams kids, because Brian Urlacher is out for the season...And Troy Polamalu will not need knee surgery but he'll still be out for a while...Carolina is sticking with Jake Delhomme but they signed A.J. Feeley just in case...The Eagles have signed veteran QB Jeff Garcia as insurance after Donovan McNabb broke his rib during Sunday's victory...Three current NFL players have donated their brain and spinal cord tissue to researchers.

Hockey: The Panthers signed defenseman Dennis Seidenberg to a one year deal...The Wild have invited Petr Sykora to training camp...Former Canucks captain Trevor Linden along with the Phoenix Sun's Steve Nash and golfer Stephen Ames have been asked to run a leg during the Olympic torch relay.

Nascar: Richard Petty Motorsports has suspended VP and managing director of competition Mark McArdle after he got into a heated conversation with George Gillett Jr...Michael Waltrip Racing has hired Pat Tryson as the crew chief for Martin Truex, Jr. for the 2010 season...JR Motorsports crew chief Tony Eury Sr in ok after being involved in a two car accident on Sunday.

Best of the Rest: Juan Martin Del Potro won his first grand slam after downing five time US Open champ Roger Federer in five sets...Also winning in Flushing on Monday were Venus and Serena Williams who captured the doubles title...Serena apologized for her behavior on Saturday...Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been charged with violent and improper conduct by the football association for his alleged stamp on Robin van Persie.

Check this Out: At first I was going to use this space to say happy birthday to my favorite British royal Prince Harry (who turns 25), but sadly there was some bigger news that happened yesterday. Beloved actor Patrick Swayze has succumbed to pancreatic cancer. He was just 57.
