January 12, 2007

My mom and I attempted to go to the Historical Preservation Society meeting last night since I believe my town’s going to hell in a hand basket. Unfortunately, there weren’t any parking spaces and I was hungry. So I’ll have to be a good citizen next month.

Random Quote: "No more than 12 -- it shouldn't have been more than 10 to begin with [because] that's a quarter of the field. Why do we need to bring in more than that?" – Tony Stewart on the Chase for the Nextel Cup (nascar.com)

Dodger Stadium will now be offering fans an all you can section (minus beer, ice cream and candy). The right field pavilion seats will cost fans $35 or $40 if bought on gameday. Seats in the left field will cost only $10 but will not offer unlimited dodger dogs and other goodies. What an awesome idea. I hope other stadiums adopt this plan! (AP)

MLS
The Beckhams are coming to America after David Beckham signed a five year deal worth a reported $250 million (including sponsorship) with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He had been playing for Real Madrid.

Around the World:
In if it didn’t work in Arizona why not try it in NJ news…NJ wants to give one lucky voter a million dollars just for voting. NJ is hoping to increase voter turnout by essentially buying votes, only this time, it won’t be done under the table. A similar measure was rejected in Arizona. People have the right to vote, if they don’t want to vote, that’s their own mistake. The incentive to vote should be wanting to have an input in how your life is run, not getting paid! (Thanks Mom!)

The Pizza Patron has received hate mail and death threats since putting up signs saying they accept pesos as a form of payment. Exactly how many pesos does a pizza cost? (AP)

In come on, I really wanted you to be President news…Sen. John McCain (AZ-R) has sided with President Bush on the issue of Iraq. McCain believes it is a good idea to increase troops in the area. John, siding with Bush: Bad; getting as far away from Bush’s policies: Very Good!

Popo in my crib News:
Hercules, an adorable tabby weighing a scant 20 pounds, who had been stealing food out of a family’s house, was recently caught. The woman had been leaving food in a bowl for her cats to eat in her garage. She noticed that the food was disappearing much faster than usually did, until one day, she noticed Hercules stuck in the doggy door. Watch out Hercules, because the kitty popo are on your tail! (CNN) A picture of Hercules is posted below.
